The Oregon Trail is a game released by MECC in 1978. Seen as education software, the game has the player lead a group of five individuals across the United States in 1848, in the hopes of starting a new life in the state of Oregon. Players must choose the supplies they will bring with them at the start, and along the way deal with such issues as wagon damage, illness, and river crossings.
Those who followed the Book of Mormon set off to the Western parts of America in 1846, due to disputes with neighbors in their previous home of Navoo, Illinois. Led by Brigham Young, the settlers utilized the path that had been named The Oregon Trail in the hopes of securing successful passage to a new homeland. Eventually, however, they split off and made their on path, known as the Mormon Trail, and made their new home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
