I have always been a huge Simpsons fan. I remember the first episode i ever saw was the treehouse of horror episode where Lisa comes home and says: “Mom, mom! Martin died at school today!” I remember never having laughed so hard at a TV show. I feel that ending my vectoring with the Simpsons is rather fitting, as they not only shaped my sense of humor but also provided me with more entertainment than any other show for so many years.
The Simpsons movie also represents a truly momentous achievement in its own right. Simpsons fans waited years for a movie, and when it actually arrrived it was actually really really good. It was truly a testament to the (then) nearly two decades of laughter that the Simpsons had so lovingly provided for us all. The runtime on the movie was perfect, as was the character development, with Ned Flanders taking on a new role in the film that worked really well. The fact that they were able to so effectively re-introduce the Simpsons to movie-going audiences that probably hadn’t seen the show in years was very impressive.
The Simpsons movie is a fitting end for my vectoring. It is truly an adaptation that had everything stacked against it, and yet, it worked. To express my love for these characters, here is a clip of my favorite moment in the movie:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE0-zQBL-Sc
Still, i will admit that despite its greatness, rarely does the movie live up to moments like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7X5s5vacIU&feature=endscreen
